An Archive of My Favourite Narratives

My drive to write stems from a profound need to read and consume the world’s narratives, for a single life is far too short to experience everything first-hand. The true joy, then, lies in curation: gathering the finest expressions of human thought and emotion into a personal, mental archive. I am instinctively drawn to work that attempts to capture or reinterpret reality, finding particular resonance in the layered worlds of fiction, fantasy, history, art, and realist writings.

This fascination with capturing the essence of life translates directly to my engagement with film and television. I find immense relief in the structured escape of sitcoms, especially animated ones, where humour and absurdity offer a delightful contrast to reality. My viewing also covers the epic scope of fantasy, drama, and historical series, as well as the stark reflections of apocalypse narratives. Crucially, I am deeply engaged by documentaries, particularly those focused on climate change and the preservation of our natural world, where the narrative urgency shifts from human history to planetary survival. In cinema, I am drawn to the grand scales of drama, fantasy, and adventure, the evocative charm of animation, and the stark visual poetry of the Western.

My personal archive extends vibrantly into the visual and audible arts. In painting, I am captivated by the emotional texture and shifting light of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, the formal rigour of Neoclassicism, the raw feeling of Expressionism, and the provocative disruption of Dadaism. These movements represent humanity’s endless, thrilling quest to see and depict the world anew.

Musically, my taste is deliberately boundless. I truly love everything and can appreciate masterful composition in any genre. My archive happily spans the intricate ragas of Indian classical music, the improvisational complexity of Jazz, and the intense, cathartic energy of Heavy Metal.

This personal consumption is an essential, quiet act of rebellion; it is how I enrich the mental landscape that, in turn, fuels my own need to create.
