From Finland to Portugal: A Research Exchange in Braga

Starting January 1, 2024, I will be participating in a research exchange programme in Portugal to work on my master’s thesis, supported by the TESTEd (Towards a European Syllabus in Teacher Education) network. The exchange is happening at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Braga throughout January 2024.

My thesis focuses on how the colonial legacies are conceptualised by students from former Portuguese and British colonies, and subsequently, how they impact the democratisation process in higher education. It aims to present a decolonial framework for democratic higher education.

The thesis is being guided by two distinguished academics: Dr. Yared Demssie from the University of Oulu and Dr. Paulo Dias from the Catholic University of Portugal.
